Too many players rate you as a bad player, then you won't get a discount on the next Team Fortress or Half Life game.
This is a good and a bad thing. Good, because hopefully this will motivate more players to stop yelling and cursing when they get shot by the sniper for the 10th time. Bad, because even though childish-racist yelling players suck, they still are paying customers for Valve, and if Valve decides to punish them, then they might stop buying games from them.
Here's the link to the article and you decide for yourself if this is a good idea or not!
Hmmm depends of course on how they do this. But as long as poorly voted people don't get charged MORE I see this as a good thing. It wouldn't be too different from what Xbox live Gold members get in terms of discounted games or other advantages. Except with Valve's idea you don't have to pay for this, you are rewarded it. So I think this can really make an impact on their Steam community. Oppose to other online services where one would have to get enough complaints to even be looked at, this is more proactive and gets everyone who plays to think twice about being a jerk.
